Abit seems to like holding this ace in their sleeve on their motherboards as they did the same thing abit kx their Abit KG7-RAID motherboard a lx7-333 months back.

I also change the settings for drives not installed to "none" and leave the others set to "Auto. This computer does not use either serial port. The lack of integrated features has also allowed Abit to include more enthusiast features on the KX7 such as 6 PCI slots, compared to the 3 slots seen on the Zbit.
Something that I was slightly disappointed with was the lack of USB 2. In some cases, we could get three modules to work relatively well but overall you shouldn't count on using more than two sticks of memory in the KX without sacrificing stability. Go fly a kite? I was very happy with the results that I abit kx using only air-cooling and I am sure better results could be achieved with liquid cooling or a Peltier device.

Install the USB cable and header supplied with the motherboard. Inside the box was not the plethora of free software and other bundled goodies we are used to seeing from many other manufacturers. This is a standard on most modern motherboards and I was surprised to see Abit overlook it on the KXR. Check the CPU settings again. It's up to you whether or not you download and install the 4-in-1 drivers from VIA's web site.

ABIT has always been a favorite among the enthusiast crowd since their boards are often targeted solely at that market. The lack of any on-board audio header seems to be more of an image thing rather than a cost saving instrument as it doesn't give the KX that big of a price advantage; the lack of any on-board audio plays perfectly into the misconception that on-board audio requires more CPU time than add-in cards.
However, there is some free software included on the driver CD. Kx77-333 board also ships with two extra USB 1. Because of this, no good thermal protection is built into the motherboard, which is a bit of a disappointment considering that the board was released long after Tom's Hardware Guide brought attention to the issue of thermal emergencies and the Athlon XP processor.
